Our trip planning in and of itself is not going to be conducted by me because I'm generally lazy and my sister has a knack for it much more than I do.
We'll be visiting many places, starting the trip from here in Manti, Utah, driving to Vegas, then flying to Boston, where we will take another flight to Dublin, Ireland.
While we would like to visit several places, it will depend on how we feel by that point, and how much money we have. Worst case scenario we stay in the British Isles for two months. Sounds awesome to me!
Well, I suppose getting robbed/mugged/shot/planecrash'd or whatever would be worse but you know what I mean.
We set this in stone when we paid $1500 for two plane tickets. Assuming we can come up with some money, we should be absolutely fine, as we plan to spend almost nothing while we're there. What this means is that much of our time will be spent on bikes and in tents. This doesn't bother me too much, but as an obese person it is a bit daunting.
I have to lose weight before we go, and at very least get into well enough shape to pull this whole thing off without having a heart attack. At 24 years old, I've put this sort of thing off way to long.
Anyway, a couple of days ago I spent about $200 on biking accoutrements, except helmets. We don't have the bikes yet, but we'll find them, in the mean time we have seats, locks, water bottles, counters, lights, bags and railings for our bikes which don't yet exist. We don't have the money to get the really nice stuff, but I think we'll be fine.
Our plans include Ireland, Scotland, England, Amsterdam, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium (specifically, we must go to Bruges) and Italy. We may be going elsewhere, but these are the places that I care about.
This blog will contain not only our trip, but also my efforts, whatever they may be, to shed weight along the way, and before getting there.
This all starts with getting to bed at the appropriate time, which I now deem to be 10:00. This is already something that I need to work on, as it is now creeping up on 2am. We'll see how well this goes.
